Well, I don't really have anything to say of any profound importance, but I wanted to get something posted so I didn't go more than a week without posting something.
So yeah.
Happy 10/10/10, btw.
Yeah, so I know I'm supposed to focus my blog on one thing, or at most a handful of things. That's not gonna happen. I am one of what Barbara Sher has termed "Scanners," which means I'm interested in far too many things and I love them all. In interest of being authentic, this blog is gonna reflect that. You have been warned.

The Personal Statement
So, I'm planning to apply to grad school. I'm finding the prospect of doing so stressful and terrifying enough, and I'm not even taking any course load this semester. Granted, I would probably find it easier to get started on school stuff if I was in the midst of doing school stuff. After all, during the past 2 NaNos, I've taken an over-full course load, and have been more productive and involved for it. So I think I need to get a schedule for myself set up.
Any way, the personal statement is a HUGE part of applying to grad school. It's like the college essays, but you only have to write one, and the university doesn't tell you what they want you to write about.
My poor computer - I've got about 50 tabs open right now about writing the personal statement (and another 50 in a different window about folk studies/historic preservation). I've only scanned the first couple paragraphs of each page, and so far they all seem to be a variation of "write about your goals and who you are and where you're headed." And I find this intimidating.
This intimidation is rather annoying, because I'm a huge, huge fan of personal development and life design and career books, blogs, etc. So I've been working on some of what they're looking for for a while now. I think maybe it's the having to articulate it for someone else aspect that's killing me.
In other news, the basement of the library is freezing and my coffee's gotten cold and I still need to do a variety of housekeeping things (most especially bills).

NaNo Site Relaunch!!!!
Aaaaaaah! I am so excited! I've been waiting for this forever. Well, okay, since mid-September. At least.
So, go and sign up for NaNo, or add me as a Writing Buddy ^^
Now, you'll have to excuse me - I've got a LOT of planning to do. (Especially if I want to up my NaNo output to 4 novels this year)
